SUMMARY:No Wellpath! Public Protection Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Stop Deaths and Harm group has serious concerns about the quality of healthcare in Alameda County Jail which has had one of the highest rates of in-custody deaths in the state. Wellpath\, the medical care provider in the jail since 2016\, is owned by a global investment firm and provides healthcare in 34 of California’s 56 county jails. Over 1500 lawsuits have been filed nationwide and Wellpath’s recent bankruptcy will prevent those families from getting justice. \nWe are asking all those who care about improving medical treatment in Alameda County Jail to attend the Alameda County Board of Supervisors’ Public Protection Committee meeting on March 27th at 10:00 AM. Wellpaths’s $49 million dollar annual contract is up for renewal in 2027\, and we want the Board of Supervisors to start to explore alternatives NOW! \nIf you are able to attend and might be willing to speak\, please contact mickydux612@gmail.com  If you are unable to attend in person\, but can join on Zoom\, please join at: https://zoom.us/j/83246519903
