DESCRIPTION:Be part of the 980 Block Party on Saturday\, October 25\, 2025 at Preservation Park — a one-day gathering dedicated to healing\, storytelling\, and reimagining the future of the I-980 corridor. \nThe 980 freeway displaced hundreds of families and cut through the heart of West Oakland. Now\, we have a chance to come together — honoring the past while building a collective vision for the future. \nParticipants will move through a “time portal” that connects history\, current realities\, and future possibilities\, with a powerful mix of hands-on activities\, storytelling\, and visioning: \n\n\nLarge-Scale Site Mapping \n\n\nPhysical 3-D and Digital Modeling \n\n\nSteamroller Art Block Printing \n\n\nOral History Circles & Storytelling \n\n\nMini Media Festival \n\n\nFacilitated Discussions (Youth\, Housing\, Economic Development\, Health\, Cultural Arts\, Transportation\, Parks\, Youth\, Seniors\, Policy/Legislation) \n\n\nInstitutional Harm Illustrations curated by Hodari Davis of Edutainment for Equity \n\n\nResident Profiles & Quotes Installation \n\n\nData Stations on the Quantification of Actual Harm (Goldman School grad students) \n\n\nOne of the most important parts of the Block Party will be our discussion circles\, where community members will share stories\, ideas\, and visions on key topics such as: \n\n\nHousing and displacement prevention \n\n\nJobs\, small businesses\, and economic opportunity \n\n\nParks\, recreation\, and transportation \n\n\nArts and cultural preservation \n\n\nPower building and governance \n\n\nEvent Details:\n Saturday\, October 25\, 2025\n 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM\n Preservation Park\, Oakland \nWe hope you’ll join us and help spread the word to family\, friends\, and neighbors who also have a story to share.
