Equitable Lead Hazard Abatement Program (ELHAP) Community Engagement

March 2 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

The City of Oakland is holding community meetings this month to hear from tenants, landlords and community members about a new program to address lead paint hazards in rental housing.

Here’s why this matters: Lead poisoning is extremely harmful to kids and birthing people, yet lead abetment efforts have stalled for years. We need to understand the cities plan and push them to implement it. Also, city staff working on proactive rental inspections will also be at these meetings. That means this is a real opportunity to speak up about habitability issues rental units, such as mold, pests, broken plumbing, whatever your landlord may be ignoring. The city needs to hear directly from tenants about what’s happening in our buildings.

Join us at any of the engagements below:

Mon, Mar 2 | 5:30–7:30pm
Online Community Meeting via Zoom
Spanish & Mam interpretation available

These community meetings are free, open to the public and include: food, childcare, and language interpretation.

These meetings are especially important for tenants who are low-income, experiencing housing insecurity, or have limited housing options. Your lived experience is exactly what the city needs to hear.
