Key Issues

Violence Reduction

Through the Live Free campaign, we work to address the root causes of violence and crime, and the cycle of mass incarceration that disproportionately affects the lives of young people of color. We seek to end mass incarceration, stop gun violence, and build economic dignity for the hard-to-employ.

Belong Circles

Belong Circles respond to the polarization and racial anxiety of these times by bridging across race, faith, and status. Belong Circles provide spaces for us to build relationships of trust, imagine what our communities should be, and create opportunities to turn this vision into reality.

Immigrant Rights

Our immigration reform work seeks to safeguard families by addressing discriminatory policies that have targeted immigrant communities, torn families apart, and created economic hardship for them.

Education Equity

To achieve great schools throughout the East Bay, we support parents, students, educators, and communities to build deep relationships and organized power. The goal is to provide full and fair funding, eliminate racialized achievement gaps, and create the conditions necessary for every student to succeed.

Illegal Dumping

Our community Leaders play a central role in the fight for clean, healthy neighborhoods and the implementation of viable solutions. This campaign was successful in getting the City of Oakland to allocate funding for clean-up and enforcement in the most vulnerable and long-ignored neighborhoods.

Housing Justice

In Union City and Fremont, FIA East Bay is focused on ensuring access to safe and affordable housing for low-income individuals and families. In a survey of 500 Union City residents, 44 percent of families with children under six years old said they are not confident that they will be able to afford to live in the city in the next 2-5 years.

Interfaith Coalition for Justice in Our Jails

The Interfaith Coalition for Justice In our Jails (ICJJ) is a non-profit dedicated to bringing members of diverse faith communities together to achieve transformative change within the
Alameda County justice system.

We want to decrease the jail population – especially for those with mental illness and with housing needs. Jail conditions must be safe, humane, and supportive of successful reentry. We recognize that communities marginalized by structural racism and economic inequality, are the same communities most negatively impacted by the justice system.
