Illegal Dumping

FIA East Bay Leaders play a central role in addressing the problem of illegal dumping in Oakland. In collaboration with allied organizations, we won $1.4 million to clean the streets of Oakland and combat illegal dumping. We continue to work with this coalition so that we can ensure this funding carries over to the 2019-2021 city budget.

Leaders work closely with the Oakland Public Works Department, and have brought in an additional $5 million to continue supporting safe, clean neighborhoods.

In 2020 the City of Oakland launched “Oaktown PROUD,” an anti-dumping campaign developed in collaboration with us and other community groups and organizations. FIA East Bay Leaders have been at the forefront of this fight and represented their work at campaign launch with Mayor Libby Schaaf.
