*Former San Diego and Seattle Police Chief Norm Stamper has written two books on policing in America: Breaking Rank and To Protect and Serve: How to Fix America’s Police. In these books, Norm Stamper introduces us to the violent, secret world of domestic abuse that cops must not only navigate, but which some also perpetrate. Former chief of the Seattle police force, Stamper goes on to expose a troubling culture of racism, sexism, and homophobia that is still pervasive within the twenty-first-century force; then he explores how such prejudices can be addressed.
**John Jones III is a well known and respected community activist, formerly incarcerated, who has served the Oakland community in many capacities including being a member of the Selection Panel that chose many of our Police Commissioners and serving on the Reimagining Public Safety Task Force. He is also a member of the Neighborhood Opportunities and Accountability Board (NOAB) which is a diversion program that serves juveniles and offers an opportunity to prevent them from having an arrest record. He is currently working with Building Opportunities for Self Sufficiency (BOSS) and is a member of the Coalition for Police Accountability.
