An Oakland native, Terri was an experienced public sector leader and community activist. After tenures with the City of Oakland and the University of California system, Terri retired in 2011 and ramped up her engagement in social and civil justice work. Apart from being a Faith in Action East Bay Leader, she was a member of the Social Justice Ministry at Imani Community Church, East Oakland Congress of Neighborhoods, and the Coalition for Police Accountability.

Terri was passionate about reducing gun violence in Oakland – it was for this reason that she first started volunteering with us in 2016. She was a weekly Ceasefire walker and leader, and helped in drafting the Police Commission Enabling Ordinance.

We are devastated by this loss and immensely grateful to Terri for her service, compassion, and achievements.
