Renters Rights Update: SB567

Faith in Action East Bay joined the PICO California Home is Sacred campaign to keep our families housed. This work has included organizing for the passage of SB567, which passed and is in effect as of April 1. Our work now is to ensure implementation of SB567 and that renters know their rights under the new law. Here are downloadable summaries of renters’ new rights:

– 4th Thursday of the month from 1-3pm: Ohlone Career Center will provide free, meaningful workforce development, career exploration, and job search/support/placement 

– 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 10am-12pm and 1-3pm: Bay Area Legal Aid will be available for people to talk to an attorney and get information and resources

– 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 10am-1pm: Bay Area Community Health will be on site to provide non-emergency medical care and social services navigation

– If an appointment is needed outside of Thursday drop-in hours, appointments can be made on other days. Call 510-574-2000 to seek an appointment.

Transitional Aged Youth 18-24 years old (Open to all Alameda County Youth – Current Location in Oakland) 

Youth are also able to go to adult and family access points.

Coordinated Entry System – Coordinated Entry is the front door to the crisis response system to help neighbors in need with temporary shelter, housing and other effective resources and interventions throughout Alameda County that will end their homelessness and help them with their other urgent needs. 

The following links to the Coordinated Entry services and other links, including “Beloved Community – Resources for our Neighbors in Need and Those We Serve” are provided for you to assist neighbors in need and are featured in this newsletter on a recurring basis. I will do my best to keep them up to date.
