A crucial AC BOS Public Protection Committee meeting on Oversight of the Sheriff and the Jail, with subpoena power, via AB1185 implementation takes place this Thursday at 2pm. (zoom info below)
The county’s consultant on justice reform, former AC Probation Chief Wendy Still, is presenting a full report on community engagement results and her research, in preparation for an oversight proposal next month.
This is an opportunity to weigh in with public comments supporting our essential oversight principles of independence from county administration and BOS politics, adequate resources for investigative and administrative staff, diverse representation and full access to ACSO data and testimony.
