At 6 p.m. Friday, August 27, Antioch community members gathered at Most Holy Rosary Church at 1313 A Street to begin a Walk for Peace that proceeded through the neighborhood and returned to the church at 7:30 p.m.

The Walk for Peace was an event sponsored by Faith in Action East Bay and leaders of Most Holy Rosary Church as a way to address growing gun violence in Antioch.

“Peace is possible if we all work together; our children deserve safe streets, parks, neighborhoods, and communities,” said FIAEB leader Yadira Fragoso.

In addition to members of the community, also participating are Antioch Mayor Lamar Thorpe, Council Member Pro Tem Monica Wilson, and Lieutenant Joe Donleavy of the Antioch Police Department.
