Dear Faith in Action East Bay community:

We write to share an important announcement regarding our leadership transition at Faith in Action East Bay (FIAEB).

After almost seven years of dedicated commitment to FIAEB, Rev. Dr. George Cummings has made the difficult decision to retire from his role as Regional Executive Director, effective May 15, 2024. Since taking the helm of FIAEB in 2018, Dr. Cummings has been a driving force for systemic change, racial justice, and economic equality in our region. His compassionate leadership will leave an indelible mark on Faith in Action East Bay, and his legacy will continue to inspire us for years to come.

The FIAEB Board of Directors is fully committed to ensuring a smooth and successful leadership transition process. With the support of PICO California, we will lead a search process with the goal of having a new Executive Director in place by the end of 2024. Our priority will be to identify a dynamic and skilled leader who shares our values and is deeply committed to multi-faith and multi-racial community organizing.

During this transition period, we are pleased to announce that Pastor Todd Benson will step down from the board and assume the role of Interim Executive Director. Pastor Todd brings the necessary experience and relationships we will need to uphold FIAEB’s mission and values during this critical time of transition.  He will return as a co-chair of the board once a permanent ED is named.

For any inquiries or additional information regarding the leadership transition process, please feel free to reach out to Pastor Todd  at benson.todd@gmail.com, or to Barbara Lafite-Oluwole, Program and Operations Manager for FIAEB, at (510) 331-3790.

Please join us in extending our heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Dr. George Cummings for his exceptional leadership and tireless dedication to Faith in Action East Bay. While we will miss his presence dearly, we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead as we build upon his remarkable legacy.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to FIAEB. Together, we will carry forward the important work of creating a moral economy, keeping home sacred, and  repairing past harm.

Peace and power,

The Board of Directors,
Faith in Action East Bay
